My work at Theo Paphitis Retail Group

At Theo Paphitis Retail Group I took part in a significant redesign and refactoring of Ryman.co.uk and Robert Dyas.co.uk websites, delivering stability, page load speed and usability improvements while bringing them in line with best practises of Magento development.

  • I have helped TPRG to achieve significant PHP performance gains and participated in an AWS migration project.
  • During my time at the company I have refactored numerous Magento modules essential to the company’s business, including the adaptation of Magento reindexing system to handle product pricing per store view.
  • I have worked on resolving various Magento database-related issues, such as MySQL lock-wait timeouts and execution of slow queries.
  • While working on this project I have helped the development team to streamline their delivery process, leading the adoption of best practises and code debugging techniques.
  • As part of this activity I have co-authored a custom development environment based on Docker containers. The front-end tasks I have worked on included building a custom React-based minibasket and a bespoke checkout system.
