My work combines hands-on development with technical leadership: creating custom modules, integrating APIs, upgrading commerce platforms and improving development and deployment workflows.
Developing Magento 2 and Hyvä integrations for delivery, marketing and search APIs. Working with PHP 8.4, Docker and GitLab CI/CD, with Psalm and PHPCS for code quality and TAF (MFTF) for functional testing.
Built custom Next.js and React dashboard functionality, including CSV sales reports from the Magento 2 backend. Created Docker development environments, configured an AWS ECR container registry and S3 security groups, and worked with an external agency on security improvements.
Supported three websites and their custom Magento extensions. Built a Docker PHP/Nginx/MySQL environment, introduced Jira and Confluence reporting, led project meetings and supported a junior developer. Planned the Magento 2.4.8 upgrade and performance improvements.
Developed a new Magento 2 ecommerce website and bespoke production infrastructure on DigitalOcean. Built development environments using Docker, PHP, Symfony, MySQL/MariaDB and Varnish, wrote custom code and automated build and deployment processes.
Improved Magento stability, page speed and usability. Diagnosed slow queries, MySQL lock-wait timeouts and full-page caching issues. Built a bespoke checkout flow and an AJAX mini-basket using Knockout.js and React.

Developed the backend of a new Magento Enterprise ecommerce site in an Agile Scrum team. Implemented a bespoke checkout, platform customisations and integrations with ERP and marketing service providers.
Prepared the site for Christmas sales with full-page cache management, Memcache optimisation and profiling in a load-balanced environment. Improved indexing to avoid MySQL table locks, resolved payment failures and developed features for a multilingual, multicurrency storefront.
Implemented custom tax functionality and Magento tax fixes, enhanced ERP integration and stock management, and supported a new country website rollout.
Built custom functionality for the Huntergather fashion store, including Magento modules, an editorial CMS for photo and video assets, admin customisations, email marketing integrations and automated product image imports.
Developed the Stylistpick Magento store with custom modules, international storefront rollouts, third-party integrations and product import/export functionality.
Founded and ran a motorcycle parts and sporting goods business, creating and maintaining osCommerce and Magento websites.
